A free public directory of housing and community resources for Louisville Metro and the ring counties, built so that every listing shows where its information came from and when it was last checked. No account is required to use it, nothing about a person’s search is tied to them, and there is no advertising or paid placement anywhere in it.

Public access is intended to stay broadly available. That is a design commitment, not a promotional one: the people this is built for are often the least able to pay, and a paywall would defeat the purpose of building it.

The public-benefit service is currently an unincorporated project. A separate Kentucky LLC exists for contracted data work and is not the charitable applicant. NOLO is not recognized as a 501(c)(3) and has no fiscal sponsor, so it does not represent contributions as tax-deductible.

NOLO announces funding relationships only once an award or contract is finalized; none has been finalized to date.

Whether NOLO should pursue charitable status, fiscal sponsorship, or continue as an independent project is genuinely undecided rather than quietly settled. It is being worked through rather than announced.

In rough order of what would most improve the service for the people using it:

• VerificationThe recurring work of re-checking records against their sources and contacting providers directly. This is the single largest ongoing cost and the one that decides whether the site is worth using.
• Filling the fields that read UNKNOWNCost, what to bring, and physical accessibility are not recorded for most programs. They are the details that decide whether a trip across town was worth making.
• Geographic expansionRing counties, then further, done by verifying local sources rather than importing an unreviewed statewide list into a polished interface.
• Accessibility and translationIndependent accessibility testing against a published standard, and Spanish — the site is English-only today.
• Forms, data maintenance, and interoperabilityKeeping official routes current as agencies change them, and the schema work described on Data & interoperability.
• InfrastructureHosting, backups, and the operational discipline that keeps a service people rely on from disappearing.

It reaches Dustin Collins directly, and a first message does not need to be a commitment — questions about status, structure, or what a first year would look like are all a reasonable place to begin.

There is no donation button on this page, and that is deliberate. NOLO does not offer charitable tax receipts and is not structured for fundraising campaigns — so the honest thing is to say so rather than to solicit contributions online.
