Finding help shouldn't be the hardest part. Here's what that means today, what's coming next, and where we're headed.
Live right now
Everything below is real, working, and in front of you right now — no account required. These are working features, not a claim about how much of the directory is filled in; coverage is described separately on the methodology page.
Under review
These are areas for research and review. Their order, scope, and timing may change; this is not a release promise.
Where we're headed
Longer-term ideas, not delivery commitments, for how NOLO may support case managers, outreach workers, and partner organizations.
Designed in from the start
NOLO does not yet offer accounts, case files, or partner tools. As those features are designed, these are the principles guiding that work.
As new tools for case managers and partners are built, privacy protections are planned into the design from the start, not added afterward.
Future accounts would see only what their role needs — nothing more, by default.
Partner organizations would each work in their own space, with no visibility into another organization's clients or notes.
Sensitive actions on any future partner tool are intended to be logged, so access can always be reviewed.
Any account-based features would require modern, secure sign-in — never a shared password.
Personal information would only ever move between people and organizations with clear, informed consent.
These are commitments guiding future design decisions, not a certification or claim of compliance with any specific regulatory standard.
An honest accounting
Saying this plainly matters more than it looks polished. NOLO would rather tell you what's unfinished than let you find out the hard way.
NOLO is built with the people who do this work, not just for the people who need it. If any of this is you, we'd like to hear from you.
