Pregnant and need WIC food support

Start a WIC check with your local health department. Ask about food support and help feeding your baby.

  1. Find the WIC office for your area

Open the CHFS WIC application guide below. Contact the local health department or WIC program it points to. Say, “I am pregnant and want to apply for WIC.”

  2. Book the first visit

Ask how to start, whether you need an appointment, and when the next visit is. Tell staff if you need an interpreter or cannot travel.

  3. Check what proof to bring

Ask which ID, address and income records staff need. If you get Medicaid, SNAP or KTAP, ask whether your benefit notice can help. Say which papers you do not have.

  4. Talk through the food and health check

Tell staff what you can eat and any concerns about feeding your baby. Ask how they decide whether you qualify and when you will hear back.

  5. Leave with a clear next step

If approved, ask how to use the benefits and which stores accept them. Ask when the next check is due. If not approved, ask for the reason and how to challenge it.

If this does not work

Ask WIC staff how to proceed with missing papers or a missed visit. If you need food today, use the existing Food Crisis guide while WIC reviews your case.

Confirm before you go

Confirm the WIC site, appointment, papers, interpreter and travel plan. The office decides eligibility; a visit does not promise benefits.

The agency decides who can get help. Funds, appointments, and space may change. Keep private records with you; this page does not ask for them.
