Get food today in Indiana

You can look for food today and also start a SNAP application. Doing both is fine.

  • 2-1-1: Dial 2-1-1 to talk with a person who can help you find food, housing, and other help near you.
  1. Step 1: Call 2-1-1

Indiana 211 connects people with community resources. A person can help you find food near you. You can also search on their website.

    • Indiana FSSA: Indiana 211 says: “essential community resources, including food, housing, utilities, health care, transportation, and more” (checked 2026-10-07)
    • Indiana FSSA: Indiana 211 says: “they know they can dial 2-1-1 or visit our website” (checked 2026-10-07)
  2. Step 2: Search for nearby food

Dare to Care is a Louisville-area example. Its tool searches by address or ZIP code. Check whether a listed place serves your area before you travel.

  3. Step 3: Check the hours first

Pantries and meals do not all open at the same times. Call or look at the hours before you leave home.

  4. Step 4: Start SNAP too

SNAP helps pay for groceries. Keep looking for food while you apply. You can apply online or at your local DFR office.

What to bring

  • A photo ID if you have one
  • Proof of where you live, if you have it. Some places only serve certain areas.

Confirm before you go. Hours and rules change. Call the place or dial 2-1-1 first.
